February 2008
I am trying to update Ethan's website with current pics and info, as so much of it is very outdated. Please bear
with me-it may take me a while!
Otherwise-all is well here-Ethan has been great (knock on wood) missed a couple of days of school last week due to a
yucky cold-but had a great weekend and will be back there tomorrow! We are just anxiously awaiting lovely, warm, spring
weather here in KC!
love, hugs and prayers to all,
Kari
March 2008
Ethan spent some time in the hospital in March with Rotavirus. It was a short and sweet stay-only about 5 days!
Ethan also celebrated his 4th B-day March 30th. We had lots of friends and family over to share in the celebration
with smoked ribs and brisket courtesy of Brian. We would like to thank everyone who has been so supportive of
Ethan and our challenges with him. It means so much to have such wonderful people like you in our lives!
By the way-do you think it's time our little guy gets a haircut???
April 2008
In early April Ethan had an apneic spell at home for which Brian had to give rescue breaths and call an ambulance to
take him to Mercy. It was a Saturday afternoon and fortunately Brian was right with him when it happened, as he was
silently gasping for air. He was admitted for a few days and lots of tests-but nothing ever came of the testing.
Since he had been diagnosed with seizures in December of 2007, and had an EEG done then, they felt it was probable that he
had just seized badly enough that he stopped breathing No big deal-to them anyway and home we went with no answers.
May 2008
Our family and friends participated in the American Heart Association Heart Walk at Theiss Park walking with the CHD
Families Team. Our great friends and neighbors Emily, Ella and Brecken joined us, as did my sister Kim and her boys
Taylor and Kellen. Our heart friend Garrett Hale was the AHA Heart Child this year, just as Ethan was in 2006.
Garrett's Mom Michael-Ann did many speaking engagements sharing Garrett's story with people helping them understand the importance
of pediatric heart research to help our little ones!
At the end of May I said good-bye to many friends and co-workers at Mercy where I have worked for the last 8 years.
Ethan's needs at home just became too much with Brian's night shift rotating schedule and me being at work every weekend.
I hate to leave that place, as I love it-but I'm sure we will be visiting quite often with Stinky!
